Legacy Gifts and Naming Opportunities
Thank you for considering a legacy gift to honor your family and to support Tamid. A major gift can transform the impact that Tamid has in the lives of our members and the Jewish community in Lower Manhattan. Naming one of the major programs below is a wonderful opportunity to honor your family and support our community. Please contact Rabbi Darren or a member of our Va’ad Leadership Council if you are considering a legacy gift to Tamid. Legacy naming gifts can be fulfilled from one-three years. Thank you for your generous support.

NEW: Annual Lecture Series: $100,000
A new lecture series will feature a major public figure to provide the community of Lower Manhattan with an opportunity to engage with a topic and speaker that is helping to advance humanity in the areas of art, science, politics, medicine, religion, academia, or global affairs.
B’nai Mitzvah Program: $180,000
We believe that coming of age as a Jewish young person is the single most important Jewish moment in their lives. In just thirteen years, we are blessed to have trained and officiated over 170 b’nai mitzvah celebrants and their families. Tamid invests an enormous amount of resources to help raise a new generation of mentsches – youth that are proud, knowledgeable, and informed about their Jewish lives.
DHAP Teen Program: $180,000
The Downtown Hunger Action Project builds on the solid foundation our youth receive in their Hebrew school and b’nai mitzvah training to support their teen-age years. DHAP is one of the largest monthly gathering of teens in New York City, teaching these aspiring adults the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repair the world) and how to make a positive impact in their lives through social justice.
NEW: Kesher College Connections: $180,000
Maintaining close bonds with our young people as they transition to college is important for their Jewish identity development. We want our young people to expand their horizons but with a lift from the Jewish home that first gave wind to their sails. From holiday care packages, to social media groups, to mentorship, to internship networks, to Birthright Israel, this new initiative is designed to help our young people thrive in college, Jewishly.
L’Chayim Society: $180,000
Post-college is a critical time in a young person’s life for friendship and community. We maintain and create connections for young Tamid members and their friends for a monthly outing and a chance to find a Jewish anchor in an exciting, yet sometimes complex, phase of life.
Forever Young Chavurah: $180,000
Always loved and never forgotten, our Forever Young Chavurah supports both individuals and couples, in the third chapter of their lives. The retirement phase to end of life is marked by several mini-chapters. We respect and honor our members at this stage of life and support them with social, educational, and entertainment outlets.
NEW: Torah Scroll for the Tamid Tiq: $250,000
We are seeking a family or foundation to sponsor a Torah scroll. In 2014, Tamid was gifted a beautiful Tiq (Torah holder from the Sephardic tradition) and we dream to put a scroll of the Five Books of Moses inside this casing. As an independent congregation, our members come from varied backgrounds (Ashkenazi + Sephardi + others). A Torah in our Tiq would reflect our proud diversity.
NEW: The Israel Center at Tamid: $250,000
Post Oct. 7th and with the rise of anti-semitism worldwide, caring for the State of Israel and the People of Israel has taken center stage. For the family or foundation that is eager to invest in Israel education, travel, and guests speakers, supporting a new Israel Center at Tamid will help anchor a new generation of Jews that love and support Israel.
The Tamid Hebrew School $250,000
Tamid provides the largest synagogue Hebrew School south of Houston Street in Lower Manhattan. Our mission is to instill a love for Judaism that is positive, healthy, and life-affirming. Naming the Hebrew School is a values statement that serves to protect the strength of the Jewish community for generations to come.
The Tamid Band $250,000
We believe that music, melody, and song, inspires the Jewish soul. Our five-person band reaches upward to help our members reach inward in prayer. From new music, to videos, to albums, sponsoring the Tamid Band is a guaranteed path to keeping the Jewish creative spirit alive and well.
Senior Rabbinic Chair $360,000
Jewish leadership is the key to any successful community and at Tamid, Rabbi Darren Levine, is that leader that inspires and anchors our past, present, and future. Naming the Senior Rabbi Chair is a gift to our community that serves everyone and ensures that we will have the type of leader that represents the best of who we are and who we aspire to be within our community and beyond.
