“Sacred Time is magical and pure beauty — it transported me to another world and stayed with me all day long. The klezmer ornamentation was rendered by cellist Noah Hoffeld with a perfect balance between the old world and the romantic tradition in which Bloch composed.”
-Alicia Svigals, world renowned violinist and cofounder the Klezmatics.
“You’ll rarely hear the Kol Nidrei played with as much depth and soul as it is here….A gorgeous piece of playing.”
-Seth Rogovoy, author of ‘The Essential Klezmer’
A beautiful new album by cellist, Noah Hoffeld and pianist, Lee Feldman. SACRED TIME contains works with a Jewish theme by classical composers , traditional Chassidic music and songs by modern spiritual songwriters, all arranged by the artists.
Sacred Time was born when Rabbi Shmuly Lein of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn Chabad introduced a pianist, Lee Feldman to a cellist, Noah Hoffeld.Lee and Noah were both students of the Rabbi, studying Hebrew and the Jewish religion.Shmuly said, “I know some great Chassidic music you two should play! And, coming up soon is our dinner marking the 19 Kislev (the “New Year” of Chassidism). Perhaps you could perform it at the dinner?”And so it began. Lee and Noah were hard at work preparing for the dinner performance when they realized that the arrangements and music were truly special and could make a beautiful recording. After a successful performance (with many Rabbis in attendance), they devoted themselves to gathering a full program of Jewish music to go alongside the Chassidic songs and the result: Sacred Time. Listen for yourself and enjoy.
