+Dedication for Newtown Victims

Dedication for students and families at Sandy Hook School
Dec 15, 2012
Rabbi Darren Levine

“Yitgadal v’yitkadah sh’mey rabbah,
seems like the only appropriate way to begin

We stand with you today
along with communities of faith around the world
expressing our sorrow for what you are enduring

Few can understand the shock to your lives
nor the depths of your broken hearts

You may not see us standing alongside you in Newtown
but know that we are thinking of you, praying for you

And praying for the souls of your children
your Principal
and the brave adults who sacrificed their lives.

We Jews are celebrating Hanukkah tonight
the holiday of dedication
and as we reach to light the candles on our menorahs

We will dedicate tonight’s final candle
to your children and to your families.

May the souls of your innocent be bound up
into the Eternal Light
And may they rest in peace, forever.

Oseh shalom bim’romav, hu ya’aseh shalom,
aleinu v’al kol Yisrael, v’imru,
Amen
