Individualized Bar/Bat Mitzvah Training

Bar Mitzvah Picture SpreadDear Parents,

We encourage our children to participate in our group B’nai Mitzvah class but we realize that your child may need a 1-1 learning plan that is individualized to prepare them for their ceremony. The learning plan would follow a similar outline to our year long class curriculum and would meet with a tutor at your convenience.

Rosh Hashanah 2010We envision the preparation period to take approximately 9-12 months and can be accomplished on-site, at your home, or via Skype.

The first step in the process is to contact our office by email or phone to see if we can be helpful. Next, you’ll meet with Rabbi Darren or Rabbi Darcie to pick a ceremony date and to prepare your individualized learning plan which most often involves learning the Jewish holidays, customs, prayers, and Hebrew with a private tutor.

Tamid NYC Shabbat - May 18, 2012Approximately 3-4 months prior to your child’s ceremony, your child will focus primarily on their ceremony prep which involves learning a Torah portion and writing a bar/bat mitzvah speech. Over the course of the year, your child will meet weekly with a tutor and every 4-6 weeks with Rabbi Darren.

The fee for individualized training is $3600 in addition to your family membership ($3450) which includes all the materials, tutor fees, congregational support, high holiday tickets, the use of our Torah and prayerbooks, and anything else to make your ceremony a great success.

You are welcome to read a sample learning plan which is similar to the one we will create with you for your child’s prep-year.

We would love to speak with you about this option to see if it would be right for your family. Please contact our office at 646 360 0689 or our Director of Education, Christina Broussard at cbroussard@tamidnyc.org.
