+ Hallah at Home

Dear Tamid  –
We’re excited to begin our “Hallah at Home” project which begins tomorrow, September 19, 2014.
In the spirit of Jewish life, family, and honoring the sacred time of Shabbat, we will be delivering a hallah to your home on the 3rd Friday of each month.

Each package will come with our monthly newsletter “Hallah at Home” which contains a short synopsis of the weekly Torah reading and Tamid’s table talk topics. You will also receive Shabbat blessings card and a very tasty Zomick’s hallah.

We started the “Hallah at Home” experiment with the plan of sending you a hallah generally on the 3rd Shabbat of each month. Tamid meets on 1st Friday of each month for our Community Shabbat gatherings and we want to encourage you to create a small and intimate gathering of family and/or friends in your own homes on the 3rd Shabbat of each month.

Here’s a great chance to invite new friends for a meal, spend time together separating from the week and breaking bread with your family.

Wishing you all a week of peace and we hope to see you at Rosh Hashanah services next week.

After our first delivery, we received this terrific emails:

“Funny story…we actually ended up having one our first shabbas dinners last night with the boys because of the hallah.  True, I was already preparing chicken for dinner, but I couldn’t add the “loaf” in the center of the table without the rest of the ceremony.  It was probably the fastest reading of prayers and we had some improvisation, but it was a beginning and he was able to start his Bnai mitzvah checklist by assisting.  The best is, I think we will continue the tradition in our house as often as we can…all because of the hallah delivered from Tamid.  That’s a pretty special loaf!”

“Thank you so much for the Challah. Not only was it a very nice gesture, it encouraged me to gather my family around the table and sing all the blessings. I explained to everyone that it’s amazing and warm to know that no matter where in the world they go, from Italy to South Africa, that everywhere, Jewish people will sing these same prayers in the same tune. And that’s it a part of our culture. It was a very nice moment.  Thank you.”
