Abayudaya Jews of Uganda
Aaron Kintu Moses of the Jewish Tribe of Uganda joins Tamid for Shabbat Evening on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 6 PM @ St. Paul’s Chapel
The Abayudaya, Lugandan for House of Judah, have been living in Central Uganda as Jews since 1919. In 1999, the great-grandson of the founder of this tribe, Gershon Sizomu, came to New York to study at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. A seminarian at the time, Darren Levine was Gershom’s student host. the 2002, Rabbi Levine travelled to Central Africa for two months to teach and learn from the Abayudaya and now, a decade later, welcomes his friends to New York to share their amazing story.

Shabbat services are from 6:00-7:15 PM and are held at St. Paul’s Chapel, 209 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
