+ Introducing DSK – Shabbat at Dusk

Oct 29, 2014
We’re excited to announce a new downtown Shabbat experience, DSK – Shabbat at Dusk, especially for Young Professionals living or working in the New York area.

DSK will meet on the first Friday of every month, starting Nov. 7  at 8 PM. We’ll start with an uplifting Shabbat service with great music followed by drinks, food, and mingling.

This is an awesome opportunity for Tamid to connect with a fabulous cohort of New York Jews and friends in their 20’s and 30’s.  DSK is short for Downtown Shabbat Kehilah (“community” in Hebrew).

The DSK leadership team has been planning for this exciting launch since the summertime and I want to thank Alex Baranick, Brett Bedevian, Allison Fedele, Auren Freeman, Jon Kurzner, and BJ Michaels. The vision and intention for DSK is to create a causal and positive place to gather for Shabbat with old and new friends – where everyone is welcome.

I also want to recognize Rabbi Jonathan Blake, Christina Broussard, and Rabbi Scott Weiner for your leadership and participation. DSK is a partnership between three New York Area congregations: Tamid, Temple Israel of New Rochelle and Westchester Reform Temple. And as we evolve, we hope to add even more congregations to DSK.

Please share this news with the young professionals in your lives and your networks and help spread the word. And if you are in your 20’s or 30’s, please like DSK on Facebook and join us next Friday night downtown at St. Paul’s Chapel, 209 Broadway (enter thru the gate on Vesey St.).
